Then they came to Jesus those from Jerusalem scribes and Pharisees saying; «Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread».
And he answered and said to them; «Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition? For God commanded, saying; «Honor your father and your mother»; and; «He who curses father or mother let him be put to death».
But you say; «Whoever says to his father or mother, «A gift to God is now whatever you might have received from me», and then he need not honor his father or mother; thus you have invalidated the commandment of God because of your tradition.
You hypocrites! Well he did prophesy about you Isaiah saying; «They draw near to Me these people with their mouth and with their lips they honor Me, but their heart is way far from Me; and in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men».
And gathering the crowds He said to them; «Hear and understand; Not what enters into the mouth defiles a man, but what comes out of the mouth this defiles a man».
Then caming His disciples they said to Him; «Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?» But He answered and said; «Every plant which has not planted My heavenly Father will be uprooted. Let them alone; they are blind leaders of the blind; and if the blind leads the blind, both into a ditch they will fall.
Then Peter answered and said to Him; «Explain to us this parable». So Jesus said; «You also still are without understanding?
Do you not yet understand that whatever enters into the mouth passes into the stomach and in the toilet is eliminated? But the things which come out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile the person.
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man; but with unwashed hands to eat does not defile a man».
And going out from there Jesus departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon.
And behold, a woman of Canaan from those borders caming out she cried out to Him saying; «Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed». But He did not answered her a word. And came His disciples and urged Him saying; «Send her away, for she cries out after us».
But He answered and said; «I was not sent except to the sheep the lost ones of the house of Israel». Then she came and worshiped Him saying; «Lord, help me!».
But He answered and said; «It is not good to take the bread of the children and throw it to the little dogs». And she said; «Yes, Lord; and yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from the table of their masters». Then Jesus answered and said to her; «O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire». And was healed her daughter from that very hour.
And departing from there Jesus came near the Sea of Galilee, and went up on the mountain and sat there.
And there came to Him great crowds having with them lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they laid them down at the feet of Jesus, and He healed them, so the crowds marveled when they saw the deaf listening, the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.
And Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said; «I have compassion on the crowd, because three days already they have remained with Me and don't have anything to eat; and to send them away hungry I do not want, lest they faint on the way».
And they said to Him His disciples; «Where could we get in the wilderness enough bread in order to satisfy such a great multitude?» And Jesus said to them; «How many loaves do you have?» And they said; «Seven, and a few little fish». And He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
And He took the seven loaves and the fish, and giving thanks He broke them and gave them to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they all ate and were satisfied, and they took up what were left of the fragments seven large baskets full; Now those who ate were four thousand men besides women and children.
And sending away the multitude He got into the boat and came to the borders of Magdala.
